Pixel art character action set generator
Describe your subject and get character action sets in a pixel art look: crisp 16-bit pixels with no anti-aliasing and a vibrant retro palette. Each generation gives you one character performing several actions (idle, walk, attack, hurt by default) facing one direction, laid out as 4 action rows with a few frames per action, one character facing left or right. It's a good fit for platformers, top-down RPGs and anything that should feel like a SNES-era game.
1 credit per sheet. New accounts get 3 free credits.
Examples from the gallery
Real sheets from the public gallery made with these settings.
What you get
- Default rows: idle, walk, attack and hurt (swap in run, jump or death)
- Each action on its own row, played back at 10 FPS
- One named animation per action in spritesheet.json
- PNG sheet, individual frames, GIF and a ZIP with spritesheet.json for game engines
Prompt tips
- List the actions you need in the form and keep the character description identical across regenerations for a consistent cast.
- Name the palette or era you want ("GameBoy greens", "16-bit SNES") and keep the silhouette simple so it reads at small sizes.
Use it in your engine
Every export is a uniform grid with frame rectangles and FPS in spritesheet.json.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a pixel art character action set?
Open the generator with Action Set mode and the Pixel art style selected, describe your subject (for example "a knight in blue armor with a red plume and a short sword") and generate. The sheet comes back as 4 action rows with a few frames per action, one character facing left or right, already split into frames.
How much does a character action set cost?
A Standard generation costs 1 credit, and new accounts get 3 free credits. Pro Motion, the video-based animation option for Creative mode, costs 3 credits.
What files do I get?
Every sheet exports as a PNG sprite sheet on a uniform grid, as individual frame PNGs, as an animated GIF, and as a ZIP that adds spritesheet.json (frame rectangles, named animations and FPS) and metadata.json (cell size, rows and columns). Step-by-step import guides cover Godot, Unity and GameMaker.
Can I use pixel art sprites from AI Spritesheet Maker in a commercial game?
Yes. Under the Terms of Service you get a license to use what you generate in your projects, including commercial games. You're responsible for making sure your prompts and references don't infringe anyone else's rights.
